There is a great amount of prophetic fulfillment in the written Scriptures about the Messiah. I will spend time on ten points in this basic sermon to illustrate the profound and awesome prophetic fulfillment.
There is a lot of Scriptures to comprehend. I thought it would be best to take it in certain parts so there is less prophetic information so it can digested. To God alone be the glory!
- The prophecy of Messiah being from the lineage of David is seen in 2 Samuel 7:12-13, 16; 1 Chronicles 17:11-12; Psalm 89:29, 35-36; 132:11, 17; Jeremiah 23:5; 33:14-15 and Ezekiel 34:23-24 and fulfilled in Matthew 1:1; 9:27; Luke 1:31-32, 68-70; 3:23-31 and Revelation 22:16.
- The prophecy of the Messiah being born of a virgin is seen in Genesis 3:15, Isaiah 7:14, Jeremiah 31:22 is fulfilled in Matthew 1:18-20, Luke 1:34-35; 2:11 and Galatians 4:4.
- The prophecy that Messiah would be crucified is seen in Daniel 9:26; Psalm 22:14-16; Isaiah 53:8 and Zechariah 13:7 and fulfilled in Matthew 27:35; Mark 15:24; Luke 23:33 and John 19:18.
- The prophecy that Messiah would be resurrected is seen in Psalm 16:8-10; Isaiah 25:8; Psalm 30:3; 41:10; 49:9, 15; 118:17-18; Isaiah 53:10 and Hosea 6:2; 13:14 and it is fulfilled in 1 Corinthians 15:4-7; Matthew 28:5-7; Mark 16:6-7; Luke 24:5-7; Acts 2:25-32; 10:40-41; 13:30-37; Romans 1:3-4; 1 Corinthians 15:55-57; 2 Timothy 1:10 and Revelation 1:17-18.
- The prophecy of Messiah is the birth place of Bethlehem Micah 5:2 and it is fulfilled in Matthew 2:1-2.
