"...but repays those who hate Him to their faces, to destroy them; He will not delay with him who hates Him, He will repay him to his face" (Deut. 7:10 NASB).

"Objection is
sometimes made to the doctrine of total depravity. If men turn away from God in anger, I can
understand it. If men turn aside form God in justice, I can understand it. But when they so hate God that they will not
even have his salvation, when they refuse pardon through the precious blood of
Christ, when they will sooner be damned than reconciled to God, this shows that
their heart is desperately wicked. The
cross rejected is the clearest proof of the heart depraved." (C.H. Spurgeon).
1.
The original sin
and total depravity of man has caused him to reject God (1 Sam 8:7).
2.
Sinners reject
God's holy Word (1 Sam 15:23,
26).
3.
Sinners reject
God's knowledge (Hos. 4:6). If a sinner stumbles at one point of the law, all of it is broken. The sinner hates the perfect law of God, how much more the sinless Son of God by his sinful nature bound to Satan?
4.
Sinners reject
Jesus Christ (M k 8:31). Sinners want to add relics, statues, and icons to the divine humility of God.
5.
God rejects the
unbeliever who is not born of God's Spirit and Word (Jn 12:48).
6.
God rejects the
reprobate (Heb. 12:17).
7.
Do you add
something to the necessity and sufficiency of the grace of God alone that is
His perfect life and death of Christ alone for how someone is right with a holy
God? If you have, you know nothing of grace.
8.
Sinners hate that
Jesus Christ is the set apart Anointed
One.
9.
Sinners hate that
God the Son pre-existed before His birth in Old Testament history (Ps. 2:7).
10. Sinners hate that Jesus Christ confirmed His
self-existent pre-existence (Jn 8:58).
11. The apostle Paul proclaimed the eternal pre-existence
of Jesus Christ (Col. 1:15-19).
12. Sinners hate the birth of Jesus Christ that was
historically and prophetically predicted (Is. 7:14).
13. Sinners hate the birth of Jesus that was fulfilled (Mt
1:18-25).
14. Sinners hate the birth of Jesus that was in the
fullness of time (Gal 4:4).
15. Sinners hate the all-exclusiveness of Jesus Christ in
His sovereign intention at the agony and glory of His Cross to save His people
alone from every tribe, tongue, people and nation (not every single person but whomsoever He chooses in His mercy not of
works).
16. Sinners hate that justification is by faith alone,
because they want to add their miserable and worthless garments of filth to the
matchless robes of Jesus Christ (the
spotless Lamb of God).
17. Sinners hate the deity of Jesus Christ (Is. 9:6).
18. Sinners hate the testimony of Jesus about Himself that
He is Jehovah (Jn 20:28,
29).
19. Sinners hate the testimony of witnesses about the
deity of Christ (Jn 1:1, 14, 18).
20. Sinners hate the testimony of the apostles about the
deity of Christ (Rom 9:5; Heb 1:5).
21. Sinners hate that Jesus is all-powerful (Mt 28:19).
22. Sinners hate that Jesus is all-knowing (Col 2:8).
23. Sinners hate the omnipresence of Jesus (Mt 18:20).
24. Sinners hate the eternity of Jesus (Jn 1:1, 2, 15).
25. Sinners hate the foretold humanity of Jesus (Gen.
3:15; 1 Cor 15:45-47).
26. Sinners hate that God became man in Jesus Christ alone
(Jn 1:14; Heb 2:9-18).
27. Sinners hate Jesus as the seed of the woman (Gal 4:4).
28. Sinners hate that Jesus is superlatively holy (Lk 1:35).
29. Sinners hate that Jesus is righteous (Is. 53:11).
30. Sinners hate that Jesus is just (Zech 9:9).
31. Sinners hate that Jesus is guileless (1 Pet 1:19).
32. Sinners hate that Jesus is sinless (2 Cor 5:21).
33. Sinners hate that Jesus is spotless (1 Pet 1:19).
34. Sinners hate that Jesus is forgiving (Lk 23:34).
35. Jesus saves sinners (Lk 19:10) but sinners despise this by nature.
36. Sinners hate that Jesus destroyed the works of the
devil (1 Jn 3:8).
37. Sinners hate the worship of Jesus Christ (Jn 5:13-15).
38. Sinners hate that spiritual salvation is through
Christ alone for how someone is right with God because depraved people want
their own way of salvation to add to the glorified perfection of the unified
merits of Jesus Christ alone.
39. Depraved sinners hate the contentment of the
completeness of Scripture alone because they want more than what God has
provided.
40. Corrupt sinners want to add to the glory of Christ
alone through the Virgin Mary and the saints to win redemptive
satisfaction. That is, they hate the
all-exclusive supremacy of the glory of God alone.
Jesus, keep me near the cross;
There a precious fountain,
Free to all—a healing stream—
Flows from Calvary's mountain.
In the cross, in the cross,
Be my glory ever;
Till my raptured soul shall find
Rest beyond the river.
Near the cross, a trembling soul,
Love and mercy found me;
There the bright and morning star
Shed its beams around me.
Near the cross! O Lamb of God,
Bring its scenes before me;
Help me walk from day to day
With its shadow o'er me.
Near the cross I'll watch and wait,
Hoping, trusting ever,
Till I reach the golden strand
Just beyond the river. (TH, 704).
