The Darkness of Eternal Hell: 40-Disputations in Scriptural Rejection of the Heretical Teaching of Annihilationism and a Apologetical Approbation of the Reformed Baptist Doctrine of Everlasting Punishment for the Impenitent Non-Elect Reprobates

Mike Petillo

O bless the Lord, my soul;
Let all within me join,
And aid my tongue to bless his name,
Whose favors are divine.
O bless the Lord, my soul,
Nor let his mercies lie
Forgotten in unthankfulness,
And without praises die.
'Tis he forgives thy sins,
'Tis he relieves thy pain,
'Tis he that heals thy sicknesses,
And makes thee young again.
He crowns thy life with love,
When ransomed from the grave;
He that redeemed my soul from hell
Hath sovereign power to save.
He fills the poor with good;
He gives the sufferers rest;
The Lord hath judgments for the proud,
And justice for th'oppressed.
His wondrous works and ways
He made by Moses known;
But sent the world his truth and grace
By his beloved Son.  (TH, 72).

1.  Everlasting hell is described as everlasting fire (Mt 25:41).

2.  The fire of hell is a real but spiritual fire that points to a higher spiritual agony than how it is described (Mt 25:46).

3.  Everlasting hell is described as everlasting punishment (Mt 25:46).

4.   Eternal hell is the place of the heresy of the fear of tormentive punishment (attrition) from the wrathful presence of a holy God.

5.  Everlasting hell the PLACE of outer darkness (Mt 8:12).

6.  Eternal hell is the PLACE Of everlasting destruction (2 Thess 1:9).

7.  Everlasting fire is the PLACE of the lake of fire (Rev. 19:20).

8.  The spiritual darkness of the PLACE of hell is a real felt darkness like in ancient Egypt (for example Ex. 10:21-22).

9.  It is possible to sin so badly in this life as to be known in hell while you live on earth.  Does God know you as His own?  Or does hell claim you for its own?

10.  The PLACE of hell is in another dimension where the wrath of Triune God is in full display without limitations.

11.  The accursed place of the non-elect reprobates will never have peace in this life or in the dimension of everlasting hell (Is. 48:22; 57:21; Mt 8:12).

12.  Hell is described as the gnashing of teeth (Mt 13:42).  That is, it is a bitter torment that lasts forevermore.

13.  Hell is not something that the Christian church made up to gain more followers out of fear.  Fear of punishment is a false belief.  If you want to please God, understand that you have offended a holy God through contrite repentance.  But the reality of eternal hell is proved by the infallible Scriptures (Jn 10:35).

14.  Hell is a PLACE of eternal death.  That is, it is the second death where it is a kind of death that never dies (Rev 20:14).

15.  None of the converted elect who wear the indestructible robes of Christ alone will be touched by the second death (Rev. 2:11; 3:4).

16.  The divine Lamb of God took the place of the converted elect who have responded in faith IN TIME AND SPACE (Jn 1:13), because of God's choice of mercy (Rom 9:11, 16) by the work of the Spirit of God in spiritual rebirth (Tit 3:5).

17.  Revelation 2:11 teaches that true Christians overcome the second death (hell).

18.  Revelation 20:6 refers to those who have been found by the Lord Christ (blessed and holy) in which the second death has no power but all of God's people in Christ will reign with Him forevermore.

19.   Revelation 20:14 speaks of hell and death, and the second death are of non-elect reprobates.

20.  Revelation 21:8 refers to the damned who take part in the fire and brimstone of hell (the second death).

21.  If God chooses in the final outcome of things, how is man at fault?  Man is at fault because he is a sinner but God never sins.  Sin must be punished on the eternal Son at the Cross or in eternal hell.   The Potter has the right to do what He pleases with the clay.

22. There is no support for purgatory in the Bible as an in-between place for heaven and hell.

23.  Sin places the unconverted in liability of hell (Mt 5:22).

24.   Those who possess the unified merit of Christ alone as the brightness of the shining sun walk through the hell-fire of sin to proclaim the all-conquering gospel to residents of hell.

25.  Satan invites those of the fellowship of Christ to preach in hell.  No invitation of Satan should lack discernment.  It is our greatest opportunity, because through the greatness of his pride (i.e., Christ cannot save) is the evidence of his eternal defeat (i.e.,   Christ saves His own no matter what).

26.  Those who wear the matchless robes of the shining sun should have no fear of the second death (hell).  I am not talking about reckless presumption, but genuine saving knowledge by God's Spirit and Word.

27.  A Christian is someone who is balanced and mortifies the sinful flesh through repentance unto life and personal reformation by the presence of God's Spirit (Mt 5:29-30).

28.    God the Father can destroy both body and soul in everlasting hell fire (Mt 10:28).   Everyone of the non-elect will be punished in both body and soul in eternal hell, because on earth they lacked a divine substitute in their place.  That is, in the final outcome the Cross of Jesus Christ was not intended for them from the design of the Father by the application of the Spirit.  The Lord knows everyone that are His.

29.  Those not of Christ make their followers twice the son of hell as themselves (Mt 23:15).

30.   Those who are condemned to eternal hell cannot escape it.  That is, God must intervene according to His good pleasure (Mt 23:33; Rom. 9:11, 16).

31.  Hell fire never dies, but there is also a death that never dies in hell but an eternal death (Mk 9:43).

32.  The only way to escape hell is through the Incarnate Keys of hell and the grave Who is our Savior and Creator Jesus Christ (Rev. 1:18).  Anything else supposed to exit hell is merely opinion or personal insight.  That is, Jesus Christ is the alone Exit you need to escape hell.

33.  We ought to have a godly, reverential and respectful fear to God the Father, because who is He going to thrown in the lake of fire today?  (Lk 12:5).  Some have it backwards.  That is, they suppose that everyone goes to heaven, but it is the reverse.  Fallen humanity is headed to eternal hell by nature.  God must change it or fallen man will never escape it.

34.   The tongue is set on flames by hell (Js 3:6).

35.  God sent fallen angels to eternal hell (2 Pet 2:4).

36.   There is no evidence of the false teaching of Annihilationism in the written Word.  That is, it denies a place of eternal torment.

37.   Sinners in eternal hell curse God with a everlasting hatred by nature as deep as the bottomless abyss without cause concerning the matchless innocence of a holy Triune God.

38.  God hates every sinner in eternal hell.

39.  Hell should motivate Christians to share the good news of the unified divine righteousness of Jesus Christ alone in how someone is right with a holy God.

40.  Non-elect sinners have the same civil goodness in hell that they had when they were on earth that cannot save (see Lk 16).  That is, the rich man in hell produced a "civil goodness" in eternal Hades to ask help out of a civil self-love for himself to cool his tongue and warn his five brothers of this place of torment.  I suggest to you that the civil goodness is the production of hell.  That is, it cannot save anyone but it is meant for the never-ending fire of hell.  The only unified goodness that puts out the flames of hell is the unified merit of Incarnate Living Water!  Ponder that O vanities of vanities!

Wonderful grace of Jesus,
Greater than all my sin;
How shall my tongue describe it,
Where shall its praise begin?
Taking away my burden,
Setting my spirit free;
For the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me.

Wonderful the matchless grace of Jesus,
Deeper than the mighty rolling sea;
Higher than the mountain, sparkling like a fountain,
All sufficient grace for even me,
Broader than the scope of my transgressions,
Greater far than all my sin and shame,
O magnify the precious name of Jesus,
Praise his name!
Wonderful grace of Jesus,
Reaching a mighty host,
By it I have been pardoned,
Saved to the uttermost,
Chains have been torn asunder,
Giving me liberty;
For the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me.

Wonderful grace of Jesus,
Reaching the most defiled,
By its transforming power,
Making him God's dear child,
Purchasing peace and heaven,
For all eternity;
And the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me.  (TH, 702).
