A "Non Audivit" 25-Disputation on a Sermon and Exegetical Defense of 2 Timothy 2:10 and Blinded By the Light

Dr. MA Petillo

Our children, Lord, in faith and pray'r,
We now devote to thee;
Let them thy cov'nant mercies share,
And thy salvation see.
Such helpless babes thou didst embrace,
While dwelling here below;
To us and ours, O God of grace,
The same compassion show.
In early days their hearts secure
From worldly snares, we pray;
O let them to the end endure
In ev'ry righteous way.  (TH, 351).

1. God's people in Christ (especially the ruling evangelical and reformed eldership with special emphasis in the things of Christ) endure all things (i.e., suffering, sin, etc.) for the pre-converted elect that they may experience the real fruition of their "monergistic conversion" by God's choice in time and space through the spiritual rebirth of the lost sinner who has spent time under God's condemnation since conception by the Spirit and Word.

2.  All the pre-converted elect are blinded by the light.

3.  All the pre-converted elect are bound by Satan.

4.  All the pre-converted elect spend time under condemnation.

5.  None of the pre-converted elect will perish in the final outcome.

6.  The never-converted elect will never come to true faith.

7.  The never-converted non-elect will always be condemned.

8.  All the pre-converted elect are deceived by Satan and sin.

9.  All of the never-converted non-elect are forever deceived by Satan and sin.

10.  A sovereign holy Triune God allows the approbation of second causes (without adding to Christ alone in how someone is right with a holy God) to bring about the spiritual salvation in Christ for the pre-converted elect alone by those of God's already converted chosen in time and space who endure all things for their sake, because God is testing the Christian motives of His people in reaching the lost sheep that went astray for the sake of Christ in the command to make disciples from every tribe, tongue, people and nation without it being the sin of over-righteousness, but it is a true balance that is not an abomination.

11.  Every pre-converted elect sinner is blinded by a holy God because of judgment, wrath, original sin and radical corruption.

12.  Every never-converted non-elect sinner is blinded by a holy Triune God without intimidation because of God's final choice.

13.   All the non-elect are in a sense passed over by a holy God.

14.   All the non-elect have the gospel hidden from them by a holy God because of His good counsel, will and pleasure.

15.  All the pre-converted elect who spend time under God's condemnation also for a time have the gospel hidden from them.

16.  None of the non-elect will respond in faith and repentance.

17.  Sin has no divine power to save but only to damn if left in the Hands of God for the end of cosmic justice.

18.  Only a holy Triune God can turn sin on its head to work all things together for the ultimate good of every elect sinner.

19.  True faith and repentance is not native to any sinner.

20.  There is a civil prayer of the wicked for the pre-converted elect.

21.  There is a civil prayer of the wicked for the never-converted non-elect.

22.   There is a civil resistance for the pre-converted elect and the never-converted non-elect regarding sin and Satan, but it is not the same thing as a Spirit-led difference of holy resistance against sin and Satan for the true Christian (because he now has the Spirit of Christ).

23.  Elect angels in human form will endure all things for the sake of the pre-converted elect that God's pre-converted elect people may know Christ as Creator and Redeemer and experience the everlasting grace and joy of a holy God.

24.  The Spirit of God makes true Christians differ for true faith.

25.  There is a civil difference among those of false religion.  That is, here is a different meaning: namely, there are many false religions in the kingdom of Satan (Modalism, Polytheism, Henotheism, Pantheism, etc.)  and these evil empires of falsehood are nothing more than spiritual thieves and robbers.

Jerusalem the golden,
With milk and honey blest,
Beneath thy contemplation
Sink heart and voice oppressed.
I know not, O I know not,
What joys await us there;
What radiancy of glory,
What bliss beyond compare.
They stand, those halls of Zion,
All jubilant with song,
And bright with many an angel,
And all the martyr throng.
The Prince is ever in them,
The daylight is serene;
The pastures of the blessed
Are decked in glorious sheen.
There is the throne of David;
And there, from care released,
The song of them that triumph,
The shout of them that feast;
And they who with their Leader
Have conquered in the fight,
For ever and for ever
Are clad in robes of white.
O sweet and blessed country,
The home of God's elect!
O sweet and blessed country,
That eager hearts expect!
Jesus, in mercy bring us
To that dear land of rest;
Who art, with God the Father
And Spirit, ever blest.  (TH, 604).
