A Little 40-Disputation on the Things of God Means to Fallen Sinners "You Are Out of Your Mind"

Acts 12:15 NASB
They said to her, “You are out of your mind!” But she kept insisting that it was so. They kept saying, “It is his angel.”  But Peter continued knocking; and when they had opened the door, they saw him and were amazed.
Hushed was the evening hymn,
The temple courts were dark;
The lamp was burning dim
Before the sacred ark;
When suddenly a voice divine
Rang through the silence of the shrine.
The old man, meek and mild,
The priest of Israel, slept;
His watch the temple child,
The little Levite, kept;
And what from Eli's sense was sealed
The Lord to Hannah's son revealed.
O give me Samuel's ear,
The open ear, O Lord,
Alive and quick to hear
Each whisper of thy Word,
Like him to answer at thy call,
And to obey thee first of all.
O give me Samuel's heart,
A lowly heart, that waits
Where in thy house thou art,
Or watches at thy gates;
By day and night, a heart that still
Moves at the breathing of thy will.
O give me Samuel's mind,
A sweet unmurm'ring faith,
Obedient and resigned
To thee in life and death,
That I may read with childlike eyes
Truths that are hidden from the wise. (TH, 655).

1.)  There is a kind of spiritual insanity that reprobates possess.

2.)  There is a Scriptural wisdom that seems spiritually insane to the world but to the Christian it is godly wisdom.

3.)  There is spiritual insanity among Christian to Christian about the things of God especially God's elect angels.

4.)  It seems like I am out of my mind to suggest that synergistic satanists, government and Romanism individuals have a civil knowledge of true angelic affairs but seek to disregard them knowing they are true.

5.)  There is also a clinical depression among all kinds of people, but this seems to be caused through some sort of trauma by an imbalance of chemicals in the brain by outward appearance.

6.)  Spiritual insanity among Christians because they teach the whole counsel of God is not clinical insanity.

7.)  The reprobate insanity of never-converted people is a offense against God's holy superlative written Word.

8.)   The reprobate are known in the pit of everlasting hell.

9.)  The converted elect are known by God's elect angels.

10.)  God's people even think other believers in Christ are out of their minds when they state true things about the things of God.

11.)  St. Peter was mistaken for God's elect angel because they thought Simon Peter was in prison, but to believe that St. Peter was free was to "believe too much."

12.)  It seemed easier to believe that it was Peter's angel than Peter himself.  Does God still deliver His people?  Surely!  We serve a God who delivers His people from trouble like St. Peter.  Elect angels were intensely involved in the ministry of the ancient local church.

 Angel voices, ever singing
Round thy throne of light,
Angel harps, for ever ringing,
Rest not day nor night;
Thousands only live to bless thee,
And confess thee
Lord of might.
Thou who art beyond the farthest
Mortal eye can scan,
Can it be that thou regardest
Songs of sinful man?
Can we feel that thou art near us,
And wilt hear us?
Yea, we can.
Yea, we know thy love rejoices
O'er each work of thine;
Thou didst ears and hands and voices
For thy praise combine;
Craftsman's art and music's measure
For thy pleasure
Didst design.
Here, great God, today we offer
Of thine own to thee;
And for thine acceptance proffer,
All unworthily,
Hearts and minds, and hands and voices,
In our choicest
Melody.
Honor, glory, might, and merit,
Thine shall ever be,
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
Blessed Trinity:
Of the best that thou hast given
Earth and heaven
Render thee.  (TH, 8).

13.)  There much talk about angels that are contrary to the Bible.

14.)  The Roman concept of angels are foreign to the infallible Word, because it is a man-made tradition.

15.)  Relics about angels are contrary to the First Commandment.

16.)  There is talk about demons in human form, but it is Scripturally impossible to understand the Word this way.
Acts 26:23-25 NASB
that the Christ was to suffer, and that by reason of His resurrection from the dead He would be the first to proclaim light both to the Jewish people and to the Gentiles.”
While Paul was saying this in his defense, Festus *said in a loud voice, “Paul, you are out of your mind! Your great learning is driving you mad.”  But Paul *said, “I am not out of my mind, most excellent Festus, but I utter words of sober truth.  For the king knows about these matters, and I speak to him also with confidence, since I am persuaded that none of these things escape his notice; for this has not been done in a corner. King Agrippa, do you believe the Prophets? I know that you do.”
17.)  It is out of our minds to profess that Christ suffered.

18.)  We are out of our minds to problem His resurrection.

19.)  We are out of our minds to proclaim the gospel to the Jew and the Gentile, because it is beyond us in a real sense yet no less true truth in and through Jesus Christ.

20.)  A defense for the Christian faith involves a good insanity to stand for Jesus Christ but the world understands it as a problem-filled position.

21.)  The leaders of government respond about the things of God with a loud voice of a reprobate insanity that is different than a insanity that stands for Jesus no matter what.

22.)  The apostle Paul learned the great truths of a holy Triune God.

23.)  The great learning of God's speaking in His Word is accursed among the reprobates especially leaders in government.

24.)  The world sees great learning by Christians as insane, but God calls us to be a workmen not ashamed of Jesus Christ rightly handling the written Word.

25.)  Paul spoke and explained that he spoke divine truth.

26.)  It is better to speak divine truth no matter how it sounds according to the Word than speak falsehood.

27.)  It is better to utter words of sober truth than speak words of wrong doctrine.

28.)  Sober words of God's infallible Word seem to fallen sinners whether Christian or reprobate to be foolish insanity.

29.)  Paul said to believe the sober words of Jesus.

30.)  Paul spoke these matters of Jesus with spiritual confidence.

31.)  Paul said that none of these things have escaped the notice of Fetus, but in a modern context image it as a similar sober truth where Gandalf the White was murdered but covered-up.

32.)  Paul speaks that it was not done in a corner, but it is obvious in light of the public declaration of Jesus for the gospel.

33.)  Paul spoke of the knowledge of the King, but he seemed shocked to say he believed because the Word is foolish to sinners.

34.)  Paul sought to explain the gospel to everyone so that everyone would believe except for the chains of his imprisonment.

Stand up, my soul; shake off thy fears,
And gird the gospel armor on;
March to the gates of endless joy,
Where thy great Captain Saviour's gone.
Hell and thy sins resist thy course;
But hell and sin are vanquished foes:
Thy Jesus nailed them to the cross,
And sung the triumph when he rose.
Then let my soul march boldly on,
Press forward to the heav'nly gate;
There peace and joy eternal reign,
And glitt'ring robes for conqu'rors wait.
There shall I wear a starry crown,
And triumph in almighty grace;
While all the armies of the skies
Join in my glorious Leader's praise.  (TH, 478).

35.)  The family of Jesus thought he was out of His mind, because of His claims but James his brother came to faith after His bodily resurrection.

36.)  To speak God's sober truth may cost you everything.

37.)  To speak God's sound words may cost you friendship.

38.)  To speak God's meaning of the written Scriptures is contrary to everything that is wrong.

39.)  Stand and fight for Jesus no matter how it may sound, but always stand for the truth of God.

40.)  After laughter and argumentation against the sound doctrine of the Scriptures by a Christian, the response should be "you are out of your mind" by government and family.  It is a characteristic of a mature man like Paul but there is another side to this in that it is possible to hold to wrong doctrine and really be sinfully foolish.

Why dost thou stand afar,
O Lord, in our distress?
And why dost thou conceal thyself
When troublous times oppress?
Do thou, O Lord, arise;
O God, lift up thy hand;
Forget thou not the suff'ring poor,
The humble in the land.
Their foes thou dost behold,
Their wrongs thou wilt repay;
The poor commit themselves to thee,
Thou art the orphan's stay.
Thou, Lord, hast heard their pray'r
When humble hearts drew nigh;
Thou also wilt revive their strength
And ever hear their cry.
Defend the fatherless,
And all who are oppressed,
That they by human pride and pow'r
May be no more distressed.   (TH, 508).
